Parent Training

Helping Hands ABA offers parent training because family support is essential. We work closely with each family to create individualized treatment plans, which helps teach the skills each child needs to live a happy and healthy life. Our training program introduces evidence-based treatment in child development that can help your child improve in so many ways. As part of our training, your knowledge on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will increase greatly, which will empower you to work more efficiently and effectively in the home and the outside world. This newly acquired knowledge can help your child improve communication, encourage positive behavior, improve social development, and coordinate care. We will provide parental support to specifically educate you on improving skills and behaviors based on your child’s diagnosis.

We will provide the high-quality services you deserve in your home, with ongoing supervision from New York Licensed Behavior Analysts. We can also help family members deal with the stress of coping with the many challenges that exist with ASD. We offer one-to-one in-home parent training, as well as parental support groups. What’s more, this essential training and support will be available to you as part of the Applied Behavior Analysis program.

Staff Supervision and Support

Our home-based providers are either credentialed through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or are pursuing an advanced certification as either behavior analysts or assistant behavior analysts. Our service providers gain valuable hands-on experience in skill acquisition and the implementation of behavioral programming. Our home-based providers receive on-going training and supervision by our team of BCBAs and attend monthly group collaboration trainings on professionalism, assessments, behavior management, teaching procedures, cultural diversity, and sensitivity, and many more.

Social Skills

We offer social skills training in small and large groups. Social skills training focuses on rules and behaviors that help individuals interact with one another.

Some examples of social skills include:

● Initiating conversations
● Greetings
● Appropriate eye contact
● How to behave in specific social and community settings
● Understanding emotions and facial expressions
● Gestures and body language
● Assertiveness
● Empathy

Social Skill training programs will vary significantly based on age and level of functioning. The Behavior Analyst will work with your family to determine the appropriate social skills to target. Social skills programs are individualized to meet the needs of your child.
